From the ashes of Vio-Lence comes
a band that delivers one of the best thrash metal debuts I have ever heard.
I've heard amazing things about this album, but to hear it for yourself is just
another thing. The album opener, Davidian, is a slow, antogonizing track with
some brutal guitar riffs is an awesome thrash metal track. Davidian is probably
one of my favourite tracks off the album. Brutal lyrics of power, oppression
and justice give this album an extremely serious tone and also introduces the
entire lyrical concept of the album.
The thing I liked the most about this album is the fact that I liked msot of
the songs equally. I could probably name one or two tracks that are above the
bar, but every single track is top-notch. Extremely heavy guitars, loud gruff
vocals and a drummer that is knocking the shit out of the skins really shows
the power, intensity and effort that these guys have put into this debut. An
awesome mix of raw power contained to a certain extent. When you listen to this
album, you wonder what the fuck is keeping these guys back from playing faster.
1990's thrash metal has seen very few landmark releases. This is definetely
one of them. If I could name 5 thrash metal albums from the 1990's that I think
changed the genre of thrash metal to some extent, this album would be number
one. This is a definite requirement for anybody who dares call themselves a
thrash fan. An extremely respectable release indeed.
