Nowadays you don't see many new faces
in black metal. Very few new bands are making names for themselves in the "scene",
as such. I remember when I first heard Bare Sark back when they were the Featured
Artist on Raging Metal. The track Immolate The Chapel was the song that was
hosted on the site at the time. I remember, that when I first heard it I was
extremely impressed with the song. I liked the riffs and arrangements that Bare
Sark had set up along with the drum beats. One of the main elements about the
track that required attention were the vocals. I felt that they were too raspy
and quite strange, overall. When Count Gorgul asked for feedback on the track,
I think many people told him about the vocals.
This demo sees the vocals progress
as you get further down the tracklist. Apart from that, you can tell that the
songs seem to change as far as the vocals and music style is concerned. The
first two or three tracks have more melody and are more focused on highlighting
the guitar and bass. After that however, the tracks become surprisingly rough
and extremely fast paced as well. The vocals turn from the raspy shouts in the
beginning to more like the usual black metal screams. I think that the demo
has a pretty good mix of things. For those people who like melody and more focus
on the guitar in their songs, the first two or three tracks will suit them just
fine. For those who just want fast paced fucking black metal, the rest of the
album should interest them.
All in all, it's a very interesting demo and I hope to see more material from Bare Sark in the future.
