This here is the birth of what we so lovingly call "heavy metal". Black Sabbath's self-titled debut is dark, doomy, HEAVY metal. There's a lot of blues influence on it since Sabbath were originally a blues band (Earth).

This is one album that you just can not ignore. From the first song to the last it is top-notch metal. With some 'groovy' bass and drum intros and interludes in some songs. Also the mouth organ intro to "The Wizard" is METAL as is the entire song. Hehe. Some things to note:

-Track number 3 and 5 consist of four and three songs respectively...for some reason.

-Tony Iommi's riffing is amazing!

There is not much to say about this album except for: yes I've said this in many reviews but...THIS IS THE ESSENTIAL METAL CD THAT YOU NEED!
