Mithotyn - King Of The Distant Forest
Review by Chris Kime (-SS-CorpseGrinder)

This is unfortunately the only album of these guys that I have been able to get my hands on. I bought this from a friend of mine who had changed tastes in music. It really worked to my advantage because I got one of my favorite albums to this day for only 3 DOLLARS!! The CD was a little dirty and required some cleaning but after all the work, I was really pleased with what I had. The CD opens in acoustic strumming then immediately switches to heavy riffs. All of the songs managed to be different from the others, in that they had different schemes and timing, as well as makeup. This kind of CS really has you on your toes, because as soon as you think you've heard all the band has to offer they throw something really incredible at you like a huge solo played all the way up and down the fret board, or a really cool section of gut busting screaming vocals. Or even my personal favorite, the epic battle scene complete with clashes of steel and wood as well as pure screams of victory as well as the terror if impending death.

This CD has 11 tracks and they are all good. The only problem I had with it was a sense of boredom after the seventh or eighth track. It's like they threw everything they had at you before then, and after that were just playing to fill up space. Don't get me wrong, every track is absolutely sensational, and I guess the only way I feel that way is because I had heard so many changes with the same great music, and when the surprisingly cool tidbits stopped flying, I guess I got a little bored. This is still one of the coolest albums I have heard. I suggest, in order to keep the tracks fresh and entertaining, you set your player to shuffle. That way you will get all of the cool elements of this CD spread out instead of compacted into the first seven or so songs.

These guys are really good, and I have not yet had the chance to hear any of their other stuff, but I hear that I won't be disappointed in the least. I suggest picking up some of these guys on your next haul, as you should be able to find them pretty cheap. But you'd better hurry because they are becoming pretty popular, and wit popularity comes high prices.

Overall:4/5
