Megadeth - Hidden Treasures
Review by Dave Elder (FaceInTheSky)

Sort of the forgotten Megadeth CD. This CD is mostly full of songs the band did in the early 90's for movie soundtracks. The reason they put these songs on a Megadeth album is because most soundtracks suck. You go and buy it and end up liking 2 of the 12 songs on it. That is just a waste to me and thank God the band knew that and put all of those great songs on here. It's a real shame that the band hardly plays any of these songs live. Some of these songs are better than a lot of the songs they play live now. *coughLikealmosteverythingfromCWcough* From what I understand, this album was released in 1994 as a bonus to "Youthanasia" over in Japan (those lucky bastards get all the good stuff!) It was then put out worldwide in 1995 with a new cover. That covering "Problems" originally done by The Sex Pistols.

The Good:
This song had 8 tracks and I think 6 of them are just great. We have "Breaking Point," "Go To Hell" (one of my all time favorite Megadeth songs), "99 Ways To Die," "Angry Again," "Diadems," and the cover of Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" If I didn't know that these songs were from other CD's I would think it was all new songs written at once by the band.

The Bad:
Ok, now the part I like the most. The part when I get to tear albums up. Don't we all just love doing that?? :)
First we have the Alice Cooper cover, "No More Mr. Nice Guy" Goddamn! This is one of the worst covers I have EVER heard in my life. Have you ever seen the music video for it? Somehow it's EVEN WORSE! I didn't know that could happen, but when I saw the video for it I was like "Holy Fuck!" and then fell on the floor laughing my ass off at how cheesy it was. I don't know what the band was thinking, but if I had a time machine I would go back to 1989 and smack the shit out of Dave Mustaine when he had the idea to cover this song. The 2nd thing I would do with that time machine is go back to 1995 and smack the shit out of Dave again for thinking about covering "Problems" I love the band, but cover songs are not the bands thing. After I got done smacking Dave for those 2 covers I would go beat up the guy that came up with the cover and the "booklet." I don't even know if I can call it a booklet. All it is is a single piece of paper that has the cover on one side and song credits on the back. I know this album was just to get non-album songs to the fans, but can you please put more thought into the album design? It's not asking much. It's just a small thing. Maybe something like thanks or band pictures or maybe even song lyrics? Work with me man!

Final Rating: 3/5
