| Machine Head - Burn My Eyes |
| Review by Gautham Khandige (deathrider) |

When Machine Head released "Burn My Eyes" in 1994, they were hailed as "the next big thing" and the future of thrash metal. Look where they are today. A sad decline in the band; but it doesn't take away the fact that this is a great debut album and could even be one of the great thrash albums of the nineties.
Album opener "Davidian"
graced my CD player right through college and the refrain "let freedom
ring with a shotgun blast" was proudly etched on every open space I found.
However this is not a one-song album. There is a depth to this album that is
sorely missing from their other work. Chris Kontos's drumming coupled with Adam
Duce's solid bass work makes for an excellent rhythm section and add that to
the guitar work of Robb Flyn and Logan Mader and what you have is a musical
offering that will take you to thrash heaven. The songs flow with a single-minded
devotion to hard and heavy music while retaining their own distinct flavor.
Robb Flyn's vocals have enough aggression and just the hint of melody that he
never sounds boring or monotonous. All in all this is a good to great disc that
remains one of my personal favorites.
If there is only Machine Head album you have to buy, let it be "Burn My
Eyes."
Standout tracks include Davidian, Death Church, Old and A Nation On Fire.
