| Band Name: | Soul Vomit |
| Interview With: | Drummer, Ali Kazmi |
| Interviewed by Hussein Sherazi (MetalSaviour) | |
Hussein: Thanks for agreeing to this interview Ali!
Ali Kazmi: Ah no problem
Hussein: So, first question, what are your priorities as far as your music goes?
Ali Kazmi: Well, to start with.... I wanna do stuff that has never been done before in the place I originate from.
Hussein: What are your musical tastes?
Ali Kazmi: I listen to stuff from the old six feet under to Botulistum.
Hussein: Anything you would like to comment on as far as the Pakistani metal scene is concerned?
Ali Kazmi: Well the Pakistani metal scene is in utter danger.... most of the so called "metal" bands come on to the stage to perform Korn covers... which pisses me off a lot.
There are just a handful of good metal bands in the Paki scene.
Hussein: Who do you feel are the real 'drivers' of Pakistani metal?
Ali Kazmi: Well to begin with... Babar Sheikh, and then of course Autopsy Gothic who actually made the metal in Pakistan possible.
Hussein: Tell us a little bit about Soul Vomit.
Ali Kazmi: Well Soul Vomit was started 3 years ago... but we made our mark a year back or so...
Its more of a thrash/death based band as most ppl say.
Hussein: Who are the biggest influences for Soul Vomit?
Ali Kazmi: If it wasnt for Autopsy Gothic... Soul Vomit would have never been formed... so I guess they have a major influence on us.
Hussein: So, tell us the names of Soul Vomit and their roles.
Ali Kazmi: We've got Leerock (Dark Soul) on guitars, Umer (SoulDead) on bass, Salman (Raptor) on vocals and yes me on drums.... besides we have some other members who occasionally fill in.
Hussein: Anything big coming up for you guys?
Ali Kazmi: Well yeah... we are to launch a Video for our first track.. "One"... it'll be the first ever Paki underground video...
If it goes on air... it'll be the biggest break for us yet.
Hussein: Excellent. I hear you guys are on a compilation album as well. Tell us about that.
Ali Kazmi: Oh yeah... its called "Rise of the Eastern Blood" ...that features all the Paki Metal projects and its a real honour to be included in a compilation that features bands like Autopsy Gothic and Dusk.
Hussein: Are you optimistic about this release?
Ali Kazmi: In a way yes... for this IS the first time ever somebody ever gave attention to Metal in Pakistan.
Hussein: You guys played in the acclaimed first underground metal concert in Karachi. Tell me about that show.
Ali Kazmi: Oh yeah... that was byfar the best underground gig Ive ever seen, not because Soul Vomit arranged that.... but because people saw the real rage of Paki metal.
Hussein: I've heard playing live is better than sex. Can you verify that for us?!
Ali Kazmi: Haha.... yeah it is... as long as the crowd youre playing for consists of people who appreciate metal... it really is a treat to watch people headbang to your music.
Hussein: I love your drumming dude. Honestly, your live stuff is very very very good
Ali Kazmi: Haha well there are better drummers then me in the Paki metal scene... and yes I learn a lot from them...
Hussein: Where can folks download audio samples from?
Ali Kazmi says: You can always goto the official site, that is........ www.soul-vomit.cjb.net
Hussein: Tell us about your other projects
Ali Kazmi: Hah well currently I'm working with a sort of Atmosphereic/Epic band... known as Vepar... we dont have much of those here u know...
Hussein: Yeah, you can say that again, haha.
Ali, are there any people you'd like to thank?
Ali Kazmi: Well, The first person to thank actually would be Kamran (Coffin Feeder) from Autopsy Gothic for his brutal support... Estes Saville, Hadi Naeem, Salman , Ali, Yasir and last but not least Babar Sheikh and all those who listened and appreciated our work
Hussein: I guess that's about it. Anything you'd like to add?
Ali Kazmi: Hah yeah Thanks dude for the interview.... and keep fuckin supporting metal... \m/
Hussein: Most fucking welcome \m/
