INTERVIEWS
Band Name: Falconer
Interview With: Guitarist, Stefan Weinerhall
Interviewed by Hussein Sherazi (MetalSaviour)

One question that I'm dying to ask you is, will we ever see Mithotyn again, reformed?

No.

The band name, Falconer, where did you come up with that from?

Well, I wanted some name that one could relate to our lyrics which mostly deals with the past. I think the Falconer had a profession of nobility and it's also a cool name right? Not too difficult.

What are your plans for the future?

I really hope we can go on tour in the fall after the release after the new album called "The Sceptre of Deception".

Your new release coming out soon, is that correct?

Yes, probably in October.

What will we expect to see in this album?

I think it's like a mix of both old albums in speed. This one is a bit more dramatic in the music since I tried to keep the music following the drama of the lyrics. Also Kristoffer`s voice gave us new possibilities and ideas, or the ideas took another direction. Still it's very much Falconer.

How would you describe your music? I've heard many people say it's not just power metal.

Folkish melodic metal sums it up pretty good I think.

Your debut, Falconer, received some excellent reviews, such as, not the stereotyped flower metal that people think of when they hear the term power metal. My question to you is, how have comments like this affected your musical career?

I don't think I would have done differently if we got some other response. So in creativity it hasn't affected me at all, other than a small boost.

What are your basic lyrical themes?

History, man's delusion of grandeur, greed and folklore.

Where is your favourite place to tour?

Hmm, don't know that yet.

Are you planning to tour in the future?

We're striving towards that, yes. We haven't done any proper touring yet so I think it's about time.

What is your favourite song to play live?

"The Clarion Call" definitely, it's so fun to play it and the people seems to love it too. We'll see if that changes after we have played the songs from the new album live.

As a guitarist, who is your biggest influence?

Since I don't really see myself as a guitarist but more as a musicwriter I haven't really looked up to any special guitarist but more to writers. Never the less I enjoy Adrian Smith's playing as well as Mike Oldfield's and Gary Moore.

Headbanger's Ball doing a trial run on MTV, what do you think about that?

Didn't know about that but of course it sounds just great, metal has way too little time in media. Go Vanessa go!!!

What's the craziest thing you guys have done as a band?

We almost played a song without mistakes, WOO HOO!!

Do you get any groupies?.

No, and I don't think my girlfriend would approve if I did.

Any thank yous to give out?.

Thanks a lot to Mark from BW&BK for bringing us over to the states, that's the most recent thank you but a big one indeed. And of course thanks A LOT to all the fans for being there. You rock!

Anyway, that's about it. Please feel free to comment about anything you like now.

What's up with these fucking crocheted tablecloths some people wears on their heads. It looks fucking stupid. You know it looks like one of those things jews has on their heads but bigger and looks like grandma has crochetted it. So damn stupidlooking. Aaaahhhhh, it's so relieving to finally get that out! Thanks you very much for the interview.

Thank you Stefan!
