Hussein: So man let's begin with Mulch, Were did you get the name?

Mike: Jon had a landscaping job were he worked with the stuff all the time. He suggested it quite a few times, but at the time we were trying out other names only to find out that any name we used was already taken. So after being nameless for the millionth time we needed a name for a Halloween party (our first gig as a band) So Mulch we became.

Hussein: Which individuals influenced you, Both in drums and in vocals?

Mike: Drumwise I'm influenced daily by any and all cool drumming. But some of my biggest influences are Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel and more), Sean Reinhart (Cynic), Paul Mazurkiewicz (Cannibal Corpse), Dave Grave (Repulsion), Dave Culross (Hate Plow, Malevolent Creation), and way too many more to list. Vocally I am influenced by guys like Dave Matrise from Jungle Rot and a ton of old school guys. But our new singer (Brian) is more influenced by guys like Ruban Rosas (Devourment) Dennis From Severe Torture and Andreas from Pustulated.

Hussein: Favorite Bands?

Mike: Repulsion, Severe Torture, Death, Cannibal Corpse, Devourment, Pustulated, Gorgasm, Internal Suffering, Suffocation, Disavowed, Grave, Embalmer, Hate Plow, Obituary, and many others.

Hussein: What are the band currently up to?

Mike: Well we are doing lots of shows and have added an additional guitarist to our ranks. He used to jam with Solstice from Florida.

Hussein: What's the craziest thing you have done as a band?

Mike: Well there was that time we had to kill several hundred people at one of our shows. What a mess!!!!!!!!!!

Hussein: Were is your favorite place to play live?

Mike: No favorite place so far, they all suck in different ways equally.

Hussein: What's your favorite song to play live?

Mike: Bile, Mucus, Excrement!!!!!!! It's a crazy song and is fast as fuck!!!!!!!!! Can' wait to record that one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hussein: How is the metal scene in Michigan?

Mike: Killer man!! Many more new death metal bands than ever before!! We just need a decent online forum because all of ours here in Michigan are really lame.

Hussein: Describe the music you guys play in a sentence.

Mike: Brutal modern Death metal with old school thrash influences.

Hussein: If you had to tour, which bands would you want to tour with?

Mike: Suffocation, Gorgasm, Severe Torture, Internal Suffering, Pustulated.

Hussein: All right man, that's about it. Anything else you want to add?

Mike: If you have had a chance to hear our demo either on CD or online you will be really surprised by our updated music and band lineup. We have (since the demo) changed not only musically, but band memberwise as well. We now have a new bass player (Kevin) a second guitarist (Christian) and a lead vocalist (Brian) so I have retired as full time vocalist/Drummer, to back up singer/ drummer.
