Amon Amarth meaning
"The mountain of doom" was formed in 1992 from the ashes
of Scum by Olavi Mikkonen guitar, Nico Kaukinen drums, Ted Lundström
bass, Johan Hegg vocals and Anders Hansson guitar.
In 1995, Amon Amarth
signed a contract for one MCD with Singaporean label Pulverized,
and spent five days in November 1995 in Studio Abyss (owned
by Peter Tägtgren) to record "Sorrow Throughout the
Nine Worlds" which was released spring 1996.
Except for extensive gigging in the beginning and the middle
of the '90's, Amon Amarth has played "Don't play with Fire,
Motherfucker tour" in 1997, "Summer Clash" in
1998, "X-mass festivals" in 1999, "Blessed with
flames of the Avenger tour" in 2000, plus a number of outdoor
festivals such as "Party.san Open air" in 1999 and
2000, "Fuck The Commerce III" in 2000 and "Wacken
Open Air" in 1999.
